About the event
In this foundation-setting training, participants will be walked, step-by-step, through the 10 steps to create a trauma-informed, resilience-focused school.
The training content focuses on resilience and an emphasis on understanding how trauma impacts children and their school experience. It provides proactive strategies such as fostering connections, prioritizing social and emotional skills, establishing safety, and promoting play.
Detailed information and concrete actions are also covered, and in a way that doesn’t just answer the “why” but also the “how” to create the best classroom and school supports for traumatized students and the school professionals who serve them.
A strong focus on understanding the link between a student’s private logic and their academic achievement and behavior deficits in the Circle of Courage’s universal needs is addressed, as well as how to assess students and create behavior support plans for each.
Strategies to collaborate with families and communities and to support staff will be presented also, as well as examples of how to collect and utilize outcome data.

Testimonials
Here is what our clients have to say about our events.
Terry Dangerfield
Superintendent, Lincoln Park Public Schools
We're finally doing the right thing for kids.
We have very few tools, suspension, and code of conduct, so send them out. We felt we were not meeting their needs and there was danger inside the school... [We're] now sitting here with the highest test scores since the MSTEP started, and the highest enrollment in 13 years.

The knowledge I gained through 10 steps helped me more than I realized.
I'm convinced now more than ever that the information I gained from 10 steps was priceless because it gave me the knowledge and the "words" needed to give a family hope!

The Course gave me the confidence...
"I will look through a trauma-informed lens in my classroom and build relationships to dive deep with my students. I want them to feel comfortable talking to me and to know they can trust me. This course gave me the confidence to do that".
